Eddie, tell us a little about yourself and about your job here at Power Grade.
“I am a heavy equipment operator, been pretty much all my life or for the last 30 years at least. I came to work at Power Grade about 4 years ago, before that I was non-union and since working here, I joined the IBEW. A friend of mine came to work here and I joined him. That is how I found Power Grade.”
What do you enjoy most about your job or working for Power Grade?
“The people, it’s a good crew. I worked at my last company for 17 years, so I was sad when I left, but then I got here and I was like, man this place is awesome! I love it up here, it’s the people.”
What do you see as a challenge for Power Grade that we need to tackle?
“I don’t think it’s a challenge, just adjusting to new work. We’re doing different things with this green energy construction. We’re not just doing the same things we have always done; we’re growing. I like it, it is always good to learn.”
What is your hope for Power Grade as we continue to grow?
“Just keep hiring the good people that we get and weed out the bad quickly.”
What is the best wisdom you’ve received on the job that you can hand down?
“Stay safe out there. This is dangerous equipment especially working around high voltage. I definitely pass that to any of the new people that come on. You have got to be aware and on it with safety.”
Lastly, what is your why? What makes you want to show up every day?
“I love it. But mostly, can I be honest? I am not going to lie, I have four daughters and a wife [chuckles]. I show up because I take care of them.”
